5th European Utilities Intelligent Metering

Further deregulation, metering regulatory development and environmental issues are impacting European utilities servicing and metering strategies. In Germany after significant changes to metering regulations are adopted with the aim to unbundle the metering market and to give consumers freedom of choice concerning metering, it is anticipated to prompt DSOs to take a more competitive approach and retailers to bundle metering services. The effect is yet to see and the regulator will yet to define the technical minimum requirements, standardized metering processes and exchange data formats. In UK , the government has recently decided to mandate a nation-wide smart meter rollout for all domestic energy customers. The detailed rollout model is to be consulted and defined, with interoperability, dual fuel metering rollout, customer propositions, time-to-market and costs are the significant factors to consider. Likely will it further escalate competition among energy suppliers and their bundling of energy and metering services. In Spain significant smart metering initiatives are led by the industry with the purpose of creating open standards. In Sweden and many regions of the Nordic, while most smart meter rollouts are completed or towards completion, focus is now towards mastering processes and leveraging propositions based on smart metering platform, prompted by energy efficiency and environmental concerns.

How do you plan your metering and service strategies on the increasingly competitive horizon, amid the changing energy policies, metering market & regulations, and climate?

Smart Planning for Capitalising on Smart Metering

For the 5th time, this established event will gather the pan-European professionals and experts to learn and discuss the smart metering developments, case and technology updates, alongside a well-presented panel of exhibitors showcasing their latest offerings. Last year's event in Barcelona we heard insights from many interesting cases and thought-provoking discussions, and brought home with many fruits for thoughts.
